Trees for pastures, fields, and waterways in Minnesota

In Minnesota, the prairie that once covered the Great Plains meets the vast northwoods and remnants of the Eastern Broadleaf forest dotted with wetlands and many lakes. In 2023, the Savanna Institute added a Technical Service Provider to support Minnesota landowners with planning farm systems that integrate trees. For beginning farmers, the Savanna Institute partners with mentor farms to offer on-farm training and incubator opportunities in silvopasture, managed grazing, and other agroforestry practices.
