Learn on-farm skills from chestnut growers in Ohio
Ohio is covered with forest, grassland, and wetland ecosystems, with the Allegheny plateau in the east and prairie and beech forests to the west. Ohio is a hub for chestnuts in the region, led by our partners at Route 9 Cooperative, a packing facility that brings culinary chestnuts to market. Route 9 also partners with the Savanna Institute to offer apprenticeship opportunities to beginning farmers each summer.
