Fred oversees Savanna Institute’s ground-breaking research and development of commercial perennial crops for agroforestry markets. He grew up on an Illinois farm and comes to the Savanna Institute from his role as President of The Land Institute, based in Salina, Kansas. Prior to that role, he managed agriculture, energy, and cooperative development programs for the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University.
