Lauren is the Agroforestry Research Specialist for Savanna Institute. Lauren applies her background in laboratory operations and occupational safety to support field and laboratory operations in tree crop improvement, ecosystem science and cropping systems science.

Lauren grew up in a suburban food desert in Alabama and did not eat locally grown produce until she moved to the Pacific Northwest in her 20s. Now, she urban homesteads with her family of six and has community gardened in six USDA agricultural zones across the country. She aspires to bring more food forests to the urban landscape and contribute to integrating permaculture systems in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.
